Almost the only thing you can trust about Radar Hoverlander is that his parents really did give him that name, although even that becomes questionable in this cheerful doozy of a caper about a con artist, his capable peers, and his one-of-a-kind father.
Grifters in Las Vegas
Radar and his girlfriend Allie have given up their individual lives as grifters, or con artists, in order to try going straight in a relaxing lifestyle in Santa Fe, New Mexico, aided by the substantial bankroll they acquired through the California Roll they pulled on their last con.
In an act of normalcy and kindness, Radar even gets a dog, which has the odd effect of attracting Radar’s long-estranged father back into his life. Woody Hoverlander, alternately disguised as a bum, an ugly woman or one of any other masquerades involving a certain amount of attention-deflecting revulsion, begs Radar and Ally for help in keeping a major Las Vegas casino owner and his thugs from exacting painful physical revenge on him.
